We work very closely with the Education Business Partnership (EBP) to promote the subjects of: science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM).
The majority of opportunities are for KS2 children and involve visits and specialist visitors coming to school to work with the children. We have been extremely lucky to forge strong links with local businesses, who enjoy working with our children and below you will see some of the exciting activities and events that the children have been involved in this year.
YOUNG TRADERS: 3 local businesses supported Y4 and Y5 as they set up a business, designed a logo, product, made it then pitched to a panel of 'dragons'!
LINCOLNSHIRE SHOW SCHOOLS' CHALLENGE: Once again, our Y6 were fantastic ambassadors to the school, explaining its project to interested members of the public. This year, the challenge was to grow and decide which set of seeds were the ones brought back from the International Space Station. So much knowledge has been acquired - well done, Y6!
RED STEM Day at RAF Scampton: 10 of our Y6's had the opportunity to attend workshops run by local companies and watch a close-up display by the Red Arrows.
VOLCANOLOGISTS VISIT: Mark and Helen visited us for the second year running to take Y6 through the drama of Montserrat, acting in role, considering decisions that had to be taken during the volcanic eruption.
HOVERCRAFT BUILDING: Y4 learn how to make and adjust hovercrafts before the heats, final and the winner is crowned!
LINCOLNSHIRE HERITAGE: Y3 learned how to be archaeologists and all about the Romans in Lincolnshire, using artefacts, brought in by Ian from Lincolnshire Heritage.
K'NEX CHALLENGE: Y6 spent a day with Mark, from EDF Energy, designing and building a space-buggy!
