Our homework this year will be given out on Fridays and is to be returned by Thursday the following week.  You can bring it in at any point and put it in the homework tray so it can be marked.  The homework will be in one book.  In that book, there will be one piece of Maths (usually practice of what we have done in the week), English (language and grammar based) and spellings to learn.  If you are really struggling with a piece of homework and really don’t understand it.  DO NOT spend loads of time on it.  Come and see us in school and we can go through what you don’t understand or direct you to homework club.

In addition to the set homework, a vital part of learning is to keep up daily reading.  We understand that life can get very busy at times, with clubs and other things in and out of school.  Because of this, we ask that you read 5 times a week for 10 – 15 minutes.  This is to be recorded in your reading record book and signed, once a week, by somebody at home.  We will collect your reading record books in once a week to track how well you are doing.

This year, we are going to be having a reading competition. On display in class, there is a game board.  For every five times you read, you will move around the board.  Important – your reading must be signed by somebody at home for you to move around the board.  As you move around the board, you can win extra playtimes, free choosing time, time on the iPads and even put your hand in the lucky dip.  This is to give you an incentive to take responsibility for your own reading and to have a little fun!
