We are delighted that our Sport Premium, along with funds from FODs, Dunholme Community Lottery and Mrs Rawson's Jumble Sale, have been able to contribute to purchasing a new climbing frame for Reception and KS1 classes. This will allow younger children of the school to remain active and increase those fine and gross motor skills that are an important part of a child's development.
We hope to fundraise next academic year for a KS2 climbing frame so that all children can benefit. More information on this project will be announced in Term 6.
What a fantastic week of field and track events. All children showed determination and a great attitude during the different events. Congratulations to Lancaster who are this year's overall winners!

Sport Premium for 2016/17
At Dunholme St Chad's Church of England Primary School we pride ourselves on promoting a range of activities through the taught curriculum, extra curricular activities and visits which promote an active lifestyle. We support the government’s initiative to combat obesity and enjoy being active.
Our school vision is to create a curriculum that develops, motivates and enthuses every individual child to become a lifelong learner. We aim to give opportunities for all pupils to develop their leadership, coaching and officiating skills. As a school we want to create a buzz about physical activities where every child feels confident and ready to participate.
We are delighted to have received the Silver Sportsmark award to recognise our achievements in promoting physical activity in 2016. I am delighted to announce that we have be awarded the Silver award for our curriculum coverage and leadership in school. This is awarded by the Youth Sport Trust and was verified by our School Games Organiser, Gareth Hart.
During the academic year all children have the chance to compete in sporting events, whether that be in school or as part of a tournament in another venue. Please take a look at our Active Lifestyle Newsletters to see what we have been getting up to.
Physical Education (PE) is a statutory requirement of the National Curriculum; the aims of the revised National Curriculum with regard to PE are to ensure that all pupils:
- develop competence to excel in a broad range of physical activities
- are physically active for sustained periods of time
- engage in competitive sports and activities
- lead healthy, active lives.
Change for Life
Change4Life's aim is to inspire a broad coalition of people, including the NHS, local authorities, businesses, charities, schools, families, community leaders - in fact anyone working with families or individuals - to all play a part in improving the nation's health and well-being by encouraging everyone to eat well, move more and live longer.
Our school supports the Government Initiative by using Change for Life Materials in school. MSP sport coaches lead, alongside Year 5 Sport Leaders, a Fun Club once a week that supports children with attitudes to exercise, socializing and confidence in school. They use the pack and resources from Change for Life to plan, prepare and deliver each session. This supports our Pupil Premium Strategy by allowing all groups of children the opportunities to develop their personal and social well being in and out of school. The School Learning Mentor oversees the progress each child makes and monitors who attends. Our aim is that children who attend the club while in KS1 will develop the skills to become a Sport Leader in year 5 and eventually lead the club.
The Year 6 Play Leaders will be Launching this years Legacy Challenge, for all children, in Term 5 and we hope to encourage all children and staff to think about their well being and support them making healthy lifestyle choices.

How we spend our Sport Premium
We have used our Sport Premium money to buy into the Cherry Willingham Sport Partnership. Please click on the link below to see what is included in the offer.
In addition to the offer we also use the Sport Premium to fund Teaching Assistants to run after school sport clubs for the children.
The money is used to cover costs for a Teaching Assistant to be the lead adult when we enter competitions run by the sport partnership and cover the cost of transport.
We audit our resources and make sure that we have the correct equipment to enable high quality PE lessons to take place.

Children in Year 4 participate in swimming during terms 1 to 5. Mrs Barnsdale is the schools qualified Swimming Teacher and supports all the children, along with pool staff during these lessons. In Term 6, children in Year 6 go swimming so that we can audit who has passed the statutory 25m.
Please see individual year group pages for curriculum coverage across the school.
Year 6 Play Leaders support children on KS1 playgound during morning break. They teach the children playground games and encourage team taking and playing fair.
Year 5 Sport Leaders support MSP running a Change for Life Club during Friday Lunchtime. They plan, prepare and deliver a range of activities for children to enjoy.
Mrs Tipping, Learning Mentor, supports the leaders and meets once a week to discuss what went well and what they could improve. She checks they are prepared for the next session. These children receive training from our Sport Partner Membership to continue supporting their role.
