Living Well Together

Our school vision is rooted in St Chad’s example and the teaching of Jesus.

As an inclusive community, with open hearts and open minds, we value each other for who we are. We try to live together well and get along and resolve any differences we may have.

The Archbishop of York Youth Trust Be the Change You Want to See

Children in Y2 and Y4 have an opportunity to be young leaders through The Archbishop of York Young Leaders Award. The vison for this initiative is ‘to support schools in nurturing leadership and character skills of their pupils and in developing the whole child mind, heart and soul. Independent research by the university of Gloucestershire has proven that the Young Leaders Award helps foster a growth mindset in young people raising their aspiration and enabling them to see and achieve their full potential.’

"Adult-pupil relationships are outstanding at all times, with pupils describing school as 'home from  home'." (Ofsted)

Courageous Advocacy

The act of speaking out against an issue of injustice, often on behalf of those who don’t have a voice. A courageous advocate is someone who supports, champions and speaks up for a cause that is important and meaningful to them.

Through our curriculum golden threads of  equality and diversity, ambition and aspiration, continuity and change children have an opportunity to reflect on injustice and prejudice.

Through the taught curriculum they learn about courageous advocates such as:

Martin Luther King, Rosa Park, Emmeline Pankhurst, Mahatma Gandi to help them be the change they want to see.

In collective worship we share what we know about Greta Thunberg, Floella Benjamin, Desmond Tutu,  and Nicolas Winton -  Inspirational Figures
